MY ACNE ORDEAL

Disclaimer// Any of the brands that I mention as not working for me doesn't mean that they won't work for you, we all have different skin types however I just found that these products irritated my skin.

Okay so first things first I will talk about the state that my skin got to. From about 2011 to 2014 I always had spots on my forehead and chin however they were subtle, noticable but not in your face. But in 2015 I started to get break outs which were really noticable and it got really bad after I got back from my holiday. The breakouts were on the side of my face and forehead stretching to my cheek, I first thought it might of been a product I had purchased on holiday (The lancome bronzing brush) however I stopped using this and it didn't improve.

I tried using over the counter treatments such as Freederm but it wasn't improving. I tried this treatment for around 2 weeks before making the decision to see a doctor (the best decision I ever made).

My treatment:
The doctor put me on Lymecyline capsules and I took one everyday for around 3 months, I also got given epiduo gel to apply every night. The epiduo gel completely dried out my skin, which as if you've read my blog before, you'd know that is already dry already. At the time where my skin was so dry it was literally flaking off I was using the MAC Pro longwear foundation

I found the MAC foundation to cause more spots (As you may of heard of the term 'MACne' before you may be aware it can cause bad reactions) so I stopped using this, and the spots got a little bit better. My skin however was still dry so I went back to the doctors and she gave me a steroid cream (which unfortunatly I can't find the name of). This basically made my skin super dry and it peeled off (in the dry area) however the layer underneath was moisturised and it didn't crack again. I then switched to the Chanel vitalumiere foundation, which helped my skin massively. It took about 2 months before my skin went completely clear but I'm happy to say it's clear now!

Long story short;
What to avoid:
Irritable foundations - Such as MAC, and anything that you react with.
Cheap foundations- Such as miss sporty, these foundations may look good sometimes however you usually pay high prices for a reason, I find the luxury foundations to have much better ingrediants in them which don't damage your skin like some drugstore foundations do.
Excessive Face Washing.
Picking/Popping Spots

What brands I had trouble with-
MAC (Pro longwear foundation, Studio fix foundation, Mineralize concealer)
Lancome (star bronzer)
Smashbox Primer- (Altered my foundation colour all the time)

What to do:
See a doctor- This will deffinately help and may even give you clear skin in a couple of months.
Invest in quality makeup if your skin is playing up- This will deffinately make your skin less irritable and make it look nicer in the long run.
Stick to your treatment!

I'm sorry if you found this post boring but I hope this helps people who are struggling with acne! Next week I should have my birthday/christmas present haul thang up. Thanks for reading anyway! See you next week.

~Disclaimer~ I know i'm not going to get all of these things however as it's nearly the time to be jolly I figured this would be a good blog post to make! (Some of these I know I have got, Also my birthday is the 27th December so this is kind of a Birthday/Christmas list) You can also use these as gift idea's.

Number 1

The Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette (£40)

This is something that I know my mum has bought me for Christmas as it's limited edition and they sold out online she bought it from the local Debenhams, I've seen it already and the colours are absolutely stunning however I haven't swatched it yet, I reccomend Tati's video  for more information, she's a brilliant YouTuber so give that a watch. This is deffinately a main present idea and not something you'd give to people you aren't close to as it's quite expensive.

Number 2

Tangled On DVD (£7)

This isn't something I've asked my family for however they know I love Tangled so you never know, Tangled is my favourite film so it would be awesome to have it on DVD, They sell it for £7 at Primark, aswell with other disney classics movies if your friends love Disney one of these films is a good gift idea. (Avoid getting from the Disney Store as they often inflate the price)

Number 3

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Palette (£39)

This is another expensive main present that I know my parents have bought me, I've wanted this forever how somehow I've not been willing to part with the money so I'm very excited to try this on Christmas day, I've got the shade light as you probably know I'm super super white. I wanted the creams rather than the powders as I have super dry skin it always looks better using cream products compared to powders, I'm super excited to try this and I'll review it after Christmas.

Number 4

Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Pencil (£13)

I love the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade but wanted something to clean up under the eyebrows so I saw this online and thought it looked reasonably priced and the description sounded good, it can be used as a concealer for blemishes but also under the eyebrows to conceal the hairs growing back. I know my parents got me this in the lightest shade and I'm excited to try this.

Number 5

Yankee Candles Snowflake Cookie

Honestly, this is the best smelling candle EVER, I absolutely LOVE the smell of this, it's sweet without being too sickly plus the pink colour makes it super pretty, You can purchase packets of 12 tealights for £6.65 which I think is a great gift idea for a friend.

Number 6

Zoeva Complete Eyebrush Set (£52)

My mum bought me these for my birthday as I've wanted these forever and all my eye makeup brushes are old and damaged so I'm really excited to recieve these and try these out. I'll deffinately post a review once I've tried them

Number 7

Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette (£15.50

I don't have any plum shades so I asked for this for my birthday as it's got lovely purple shades in it and the colours are so pretty so I'm really excited to try this.

Number 8

 MAC Lipstick- Whirl (£15)

I really like dark mauve shades so this would be a perfect present as I love MAC lipsticks (Topshop also do good more affordable lipsticks)

I absolutely love Halsey and need a top to go with my mom jeans so this would be perfect, You can get it from Etsy aswell as other types of merch from different fandoms.

Phone case (£19.45)
This phone case makes me laugh and I can relate to it because 5SOS fam, You can get it here!

The glazed apple scent is so so so nice and body butter's are always good to stop skin going dry in the winter, this is such a great gift and the body shop do these in a range of scents.

New(ish) makeup haul&reviews (part 1)

Hello, I guess you could say it's been a while and bear with me I guess I have reasons for this? I've been so so so busy with school work and I got a job which limits the spare time I have to write but I promise to do one update a week from now on okay...

So (not so) recently I went to Tenerife and I bought quite a bit of makeup which I've decided to review for you today; To start with I purchased the

Clarins Instant Concealer;

I purchased this in the lightest shade as even though I was fairly tanned I always like my concealer to be lighter (I know some hate this but concealer that's the same shade always looks odd on me). I found this concealer was okay for under the eyes however it worked perfectly on my blemishes and spots (I bought this just before I had a major break out and it was awesome at hiding it) I don't think you need a lot of product and it's a thick but more dewy texture so it doesn't feel drying at all (I suffer with awful dry skin.) I use this concealer with a real techniques brush (one which comes in the core set and looks like a highlighting brush) and buff it in and I think it blends really well. I reccomend buying as it's deffinately worth the money (£21.50)

Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation

This foundation I bought purely because I'd wanted to try it and I was finally a shade dark enough for it to match me (this foundation is very limited on shades). I loved this foundation whilst I was on holiday, it was so sheer yet dewy it gave me such a glow which I really liked, I found that it lasted around 6 hours (without powder which I will explain in another blog if you want) I feel as if you use powder it would last longer and maybe not come off as easily. The shade was a good match and it blended very easily which I liked. The coverage wasn't that good but as I had a tan I didn't need a heavy full coverage foundation;as this foundation is quite dewy I wouldn't reccomend for oily skin as I think it would just slip and slide over your face however it works well for dry skin. For the price (£36) I reccomend getting a sample first just because it may not work with your skin type and you may not like the coverage, however I really like it the coverage is very buildable and you can most deffinately layer it.
